School of Sanctuary Award

20th March 2019Johnny Magpie

On the 20th March 2019, a group of pupils and staff from St Alphonsus’ Catholic Primary School attended the Middlesbrough Town Hall to be recognised as a School of Sanctuary.

A School of Sanctuary is a school committed to offering a safe and welcoming place for all, especially for whose lives are in danger in their own country or who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space of safety.

Receiving the School of Sanctuary Award is a fantastic achievement for the pupils, staff and Governors of St Alphonsus’ Catholic Primary School. We pride ourselves in providing a place where all pupils feel welcomed, valued and above all, safe.

What a day for our girls representing NPCAT at the Yorkshire Finals today 💚🏏
The team gave everything, showing incredible determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition. We narrowly missed out on a place in the final, but every single player should be immensely proud of what they have achieved this year.
To reach the Yorkshire Finals for the 3rd consecutive year is an amazing accomplishment, and the way the girls represented school was outstanding. Heads held high - you’ve inspired everyone watching and the whole of our school💚. Thank you to Mrs Harding for driving down to support the girls, I It meant so much to the team. The girls received some lovely comments from the coaches about their performance, which was lovely for the girls to hear.👏👏💚💚
